... highest choice I have is DVD Standard Play

Anything less shows blocks on my setup. As someone else mentioned, I also use max quality for VHS conversions, then re-compress again afterwards to desired size.

I use DVD Standard Play. I find this the best compromise for quality viewing on the HD TV Set, while still being playable by the mediaMVPS.
