Basic question about MVP

I am thinking about buying an MVP w/sage license from Sagetv.com.
I have one computer at home that is running Sage Tv server on it.
1. Can I just buy the MVP and MVP license or do I need another computer?
2. I saw that it can stream MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 and Divx. Can SageTV stream these?

You need a PC running SageTV. The MVP connects to that and acts as a Client for the SageTV "server"

It can do MPEG-2 for sure. DivX transcoding is experimental in Sage at this point.

No, you'd be able to connect the MediaMVP to your existing Sage server without the need of another machine. You would just need to purchase the additional mvp license. You can connect quite a few MVP's to your one machine, depending on horsepower.

Sorry, missed the part about you already having a PC running Sage, in that case, yes, all you need is the MVP and a key.

Just make sure you have a wired Ethernet connection (100bTX) ... or a suiteable (e.g. 11a/g) wireless bridge for the MVP

Will the channel logos I've placed in the Channellogos folder on the SageTV unit & SageClients show up on the MVP too?

Yes.

Being a newbie myself, I had many similar types of questions like this. There is in my opinion, lots of documentation missing with respect to MVP's.

The MVP's act like a "Window" on your TV set. The MVP's basically display the same things you see on your SageTV server. So if you see the channel logos on the SageTV server, you will also see them on your TV via the MVP.

The MVPs also send back commands to the Server. So with your MVP remote, you can navigate SageTV, schedule recordings, show recordings, etc, on your TV via the MVP. Everything (most) you can do on the SageTV server, you can do on your TV via the MVP.

What you see on your PC SageTV server window is exactly what you see on your TV set via the MVP

Just to clarify, the MVPs have their own, independent UI from the server, it's not like VNC where they control it, they are independent of it, but (asside form media playback limitations) they can do everything the server can.
