Mixing HD and non-HD sources

Let's say I want to setup my SageTV to have one HD video source and one non-HD video source. Is it possible to configure favorites so that they always record on the HD source? So for example, NFL games always record off the HD source, but my wife's soaps just get recorded off of the non-HD source.

Also, when viewing live TV, how does SageTV decide which source to use? Let's say that both sources aren't being used at the time - can you tell SageTV to use the HD source as a default for live TV, only using the non-HD source when the HD source is already recording something?

Thanks for the info.

Clarification...

Just for clarification, what I'm considering is using two DirecTV receivers, one HD and one non-HD.

Yup, you can limit the favorite to only be on the HD channel.
