manual recording of favorite - subtle problem?

YANQ (yet another newbie question)

If, from the Guide, a manual recording is established for a standing all-season Favorit program, are there any side-effects?

We are trying to determine why some favorites don't get recorded (no conflicts involved). Meanwhile, a manual recording is called for. The SHOW IDs are distinct.

You can manually record a favorite, if you want to force a particular airing to be recorded. The only downside is that the fav's padding is not inherited.

The v4.1 PDF manual has some info why a specific fav airing may not be recorded, on p. 56. Among them, don't forget that a future airing of the same episode may be scheduled.
