Question Remote use with MVP

Hi,

Just got my MVP working with 4.1. I was using Matt's plugin with a client license. With that setup the mvp/sageclient would use my usbuirt to receive IR input for remote control. Obviously this also allowed me to use any IR codes since I could teach them to the sage client with the usbuirt. Since I see no way to configure this now am I right in assuming that I must use the IR receiver built into the mvp itself along with the included Hauppauge remote? If so I sure hope I can teach the Hauppauge remote codes to my universal remote......

TIA

Jesse

TIA

I'm using a Hamony 520 with the MVP.

The MVP's IR receiver is the same as what Hauppuage uses in their PVR tuner products. You can use any remote that can learn the Hauppauge remote codes or has codes built-in to use them. In addition, it can use any other RC5 protocol IR codes, but it might be hard-coded for the 2 Hauppauge remotes' power buttons for certain functionality (not sure about that part). It isn't a universal IR receiver, though.

Now we're getting somewhere!

Thanks guys.

For Andy: Dont you use a home theater master remote? If so were you able to teach it the Hauppauge remote codes?

TIA

Jesse

See the first post of Hauppauge link #2 in my sig lines, especially the last 'Edit' comment in that post.

Note that their older remotes couldn't learn RC5 codes properly, but I believe some of the new ones can.

Thanks for this info which may seem obvious but which I never considered. I was using the 34 button remote which was included with the MediaMVP, never tried the 45 button one I got with the PVR-150.
I assume I can have different remote settings for each client (be it PC or MediaMVP) - will try it today.
