Update on Software Encoders, tuner control, etc.

I know, I know, hardware encoders are really cheap these days. I have two 150 (one retail, one oem) that i just installed and am trying to get to work properly. I also had a pinnacle studio TV card, its a bt878 conexant chip thats totally software encoding. I was hoping to be able to use it at least to watch live tv if needed, since i have two roommates now. I couldn't find much info on it or other bt878 chip cards.

Anyone have any recent news on this? I know it was sort of supported with the v3 updates. I got it to at least show up in the config menu in sage, but there was only the svideo and composite options, no tuner option... guess i should see if the svideo works at least. I am not using the old pinnacle drivers, they always sucked. I was using the newer rewritten universal drivers. maybe they didnt' find the tuner properly.

anyway, i was at work and thought i'd ask.
thanks,
jim

I'm going to go out on a limb and say most if not all of the folks here are using hardware cards. Software tuner support is still quite lacking in Sage if I'm not mistaken.

yeah, i guess it is. I just thought i could possibly put it on the most cpu un-intensive settings and still have another tuner to watch live stuff with. wouldn't really want it to archive stuff or watch at a later date.

i think it might be a waste of time to fiddle with, thanks for the replies.
