SageTV Locking Up, MILAF Not Doing Well

The SageTV UI locks up for my mother-in-law on her system about every two days, and the MILAF (mother-in-law acceptance factor) is suffering heavily for it. When it freezes she cannot even Alt-F4 out of it, she has to bring up the task manager and end task to close the UI before restarting. I've downgraded the JRE to the base 1.5.0 (removed the update 6 in her control panel), but it is still happening.

Her system is good and strong enough to handle everything. It is an HP M7250N, with Pentium Dual Core (2.8), 1GB RAM, 250 GB HD (plus another 300 GB HD I installed), XP Media Center Edition, HP branded PVR-150 that came with the system and a PVR-500 that I installed later. Running the 4.1 (non Beta) version of SageTV, and using the SageTV service (so at least she is not losing any recordings).

The majority of her desired viewing is that she watches a lot of live TV, and some recordings. Thank goodness I ran a straight coax to the back of her TV as well as she can watch non-Sage (and usually does currently) until I get this resolved.

Is it perhaps the Media Center Edition of XP? Are SageTV and MCE somehow not playing well together? She does not run MCE at all, but perhaps there is still something I need to configure or disable there to get her to be more stable?

I can turn on the additional logging that people have mentioned, but given that SageTV is just locking up, frozen solid, I think that any helpful log entry might not get made if it is not responding at all.

She's pretty unhappy right now, and I'm without a clue to help her as my system (with all the latest versions of everything) is working fine.

If I decide to try and downgrade her to the 2.2.8 version, to see if that provides more stability, where would I find that version?

Tech support might be able to help if the logs show anything. You could try disabling 3D Accleration or at least FSE, if that mode is enabled in Detailed Setup -> Advanced..

Yeah, and all depending on whether we can get this corrected or not, I'm probably going to wind up dealing with CAF (cousin) and BILAF (brother-in-law). It's both a blessing and a curse to be the only tech savvy person in both families...
