SageTV Media Extender Extender and Video Quaility

Hi.

I just got my SageTV media Extender the hooked it up to my 32 inch TV via the white/red/yellow cables.

The image is not that good - so I tried going the S-Video route, but now I get a jumpy screen that scrolls and wont sync.

How is the SageTV Media Extender picture quality over all for others? On my TV, it's kind of crapy (grainy and dark).

Your svid doesn't sync at all? Mine drops sync during any 'blackness' in a show or when stopping playback, and the screensaver makes it go nuts.

Well, I watch several minutes and it wont sync. I get a distorded image that scrolls - I can kind of see what it is showing, but it's terrible.

Make sure you're using a good quality s-video cable. Bad or cheap cables have been known to give these type of issues.

You may also want to try power-cycling the TV while the MVP is on, it might not sync if wasn't getting a good signal at power-up (I had a TV that did this long ago, power cycle always fixed it).

Ok, I repalced the S-Video cable with a good cable which I use on another TV just fine and I got the same results.

I am going to try to power cycle the TV as described to see if that helps.

YES! I wrote 4 emails over several days to orders@sagetv.com and to support, about this problem and have not received any help back.

So I finally got a hold of another MVP, hooked it up and BINGO - It worked just fine.

The S-Video works perfectly on the other MVP unit. So my SageTV Media Extender S-Video hardware is bad (composite video output are ok however).

Good luck!
