How to fix Mpeg2 Running time error?

I have a recording with the running time screwed up. The recording is supposed to be 2.5 hours at DVD standard play. The file size is a little over 10 gigs. But during playback in SageTV, it would show up as only 1 hour and 40 minutes. I tried with WMP and other players and it always shows up as 1 hour and 40 minutes also. And the odd thing is during playback, at some point, it would jump pass the 1 hour 40 mins mark all the way to the end. Its a bizarre running time playback error. The only player that reads the file correctly is VLC, which reads the file as 2.5 hours long.

I'm trying to convert this file into divx, but the file always show up as 1 hour 40 min in all the divx apps I tried so far. Its suppose to be 2.5 hours.

Is there a utility to fix the mpeg2 so that the running time is corrected?

Open the file in VideoRedo and run Quickstream fix on it.

Thanks, it worked!

Great app. Heard of it before but never tried it. Anyway, might find some more uses for it, especially with the ad detection tool. Kind pricey at $50 as I don't have extra money to spend, but might be worth it if I use it often.

Don't forget you can have SA generate a Videoredo project file with all the cut points for your commercials automatically. Open the project file and then save the file and you have a mpg with no commercials. (Of course I check my cut points before I do that but it's the quickest way I know of generating commercial-free mpgs,)
