I have the same intentions--it would be nice to have a client only version for Linux.

Just take a look in the Sage directory of the ISO and you'll find the files you need. Simply transfer them to your Xbox and start hacking. Please make sure you post back here your results, even if you hit road blocks. There are a lot of people who would like to be able to do this as the Xbox has a ton of useful features for a thin pvr client.

Has anyone tried this recently? Given that there is now a Linux placeshifter this should be feasible now? I don't have an xbox of my own, but I have setup enough of them to know the xbox makes a great SD client and DVD player.

I do believe placeshifter and client are totally separate animals.

The advent of a linux client would certainly move my current project of embedded CF windows to something MUCH easier.

Sorry if I am being obtuse, but what is the blocking issue right now with getting the Linux placeshifter to run on an Xbox distro like GentooX?

From my understanding, GentooX supports Java and Mplayer which are the major requirements for Placeshifter.Correct?
