Customize shuffle algorithm?

Is there any way to customize the shuffle algorithm for the music? The default one is driving me nuts because for some reasons, it hits often the same songs...

I've noticed that. It drives me nuts, because a) shuffle should really only play each song once and b) it should never play the same song twice in a row (if you allow repeated songs) and c) as it is now, certain songs come up over and over and others never come up.

I've been playing lately with JRMediaCenter and it has a very nice feature called "Smart Playlists". And in these lists you can specify to remove duplicates... I'm giving up trying to use SageTV for audio, I'm currently trying to use both programs and integrate them through Girder with my remote.
