Exclamation Comskip and HD

Hello,

I have not done a ton of research on this, but it was my understanding that comskip did not work on hd video files.

I am using the Vbox OTA tuners to get my OTA locals. Much to my amazement Comskip seems to be working just fine on the HD files. I am using the "comskip varient" from malore, the comskip automation script file and sageMCE16x9 if it matters. This morning I tried watching a little of last night's recordings of Medium and Las Vegas and comskip seemed to work just fine. Did I just miss all the hoopla about this working?

Thanks,
Jesse

Strange thing.

I have two shows, Medium and LasVegas, recorded last night from channel 10 WXIADT in Atlanta. They were recorded using one of my vbox tuners. Both are approximately 6.8gb in size. Both show up as MPEG files, not .ts files. I thought HD was going to be .ts files only.

What sort of files are yours Fluffdaddy? Which OTA tuner are you using?

Anyone know what is up with this????

TIA

Jesse

Shot it the dark.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that channel 10 WXIADT (NBC) is the only Atlanta local HD station broadcasting on VHF band?

Medium and Everybody loves Raymond. Don't know what files they was, watched and deleted before I thought to look. But both was in HD and both was working with comskip. As a test I'm recording alot of HD tonight OTA channels to see if the same thing happens.

I belive in one of the releases there was a change in the core so the default for HD was .ps files (Program stream) This will work with Comskip. I believe you can make a change in the properties file to set it back to .ts files. Those WON'T work with Comskip. In either case I believe Sage saves the HD files with a .mpg extension.

Hi gplasky,

You must be correct. I recorded Boston Legal last night and this morning I found that comskip had taken a swing at it. It was not particularly accurate, but it got some of it right. It did a pretty good job on the episode of Medium we recorded the other night, so it looks pretty hit or miss for accuracy on HD files. It has been very accurate on my SD recordings.

Any way you can think of to maybe tweak comskip for better results with these files?

TIA

Jesse

Actually not doing any HD with Sage myself. Probably won't unless I can do it through the cable box. Plus I run SA and Dirmon. These work better for me.
