Mark multiple shows as watched?

Is there any way in SageTV Client to select more than one recording at a time, and set its flag to "Watched"

The only way I know how to do this is to go into each recording, one at a time, and set it to watched. I wanted to selected a bunch of recordings at a time, and then mark them all as "Watched"

I let sagetv record a lot of shows as favorites, and they add up fast. So a few times a month, I want to clear them out. I copy the files to another *video processing machine* that has lots of hard drive space and a dvd burner. So I clean off the commercials and edit the videos however I need to.

But back in sagetv, I *thought* that I needed to tell Sagetv that I watched the episode, so it wont record it again (shows set up as favorites). So I mark each one as *watched*, and then just choose the "delete it now" option after pressing the delete key.

Maybe I dont need to do this in sagetv?? I just dont want it to record the show again. So I figured this was the right way to do it.

I read another thread about how I can delete an entire group of shows, which saves a lot of time....but if I do truely need to mark each show as *watched* - so it wont get recorded again...then that is why I asked my original question

The best (IMO) way to do what you are asking is via the Web interface. You can set the status on shows to watched, don;t like, etc and very quickly too!

In the traditional Sage Recordings view, with shows grouped by title in folders, or in the Additional Airings Search Results view, you can highlight a folder, and press CTRL-W (or any key mapped to the 'Watched' command.

Similarly, you can also press CTRL-J (or the key mapped to the Dont Like command) to Don't like a group.

Then you can hit the Delete key to delete all shows in the folder!

oooh thats what I wanted Now I can do this task real fast.

Thanks nielm!

PS
So, is it actually neccessary to set shows as *watched* so that they wont be recorded as a Favorite show more than once? Or is sageTV keeping track of that on its own. I dont want to do these things if I dont have to. :O

Unwatched shows can be recorded again if you simply delete them.

Let me try to clarify what I was asking
I am wondering if I tell sagetv to set the *watched* flag, if it will not record them again (if setup as a favorite)?

Since I move my favorites to offline storage for archiving purposes, I dont need to record them again. Or I would be recording *duplicate* shows and wasting more space :-O SO I just wanted to find out if sagetv will not re-record a show, once you mark it as Watched (and assuming I set it up as a favorite)

Does that make sense?

Here's a FAQ: If I delete a show, will it be recorded again?
