Does the MVP support 12Mb/sec?

Does the MVP support 12Mb/sec?

Haupauges site tells the maximum mpeg-rate for the MVP is 8Mb/sec. Most capture cards of the same brand claim to capture up to 12Mb/sec. (and they do!) What is going on?

1- Sagetv has improved the capacity of the MVP.
2- On the server site Sagetv does compress the stream.
3- 12Mb/sec recordings cannot be viewed on the MVP.

Can anyone tell?
