Update Sagetv Client License to Media Extender License

Is there anyway possible to update your sagetv client to media extender client?

Initially there was that offer on the table. I think it might have expired.

Just to confirm: yes, that was a limited time offer which expired. Client and extender licenses are separate & can't be interchanged.

I hope that is not true. I purchased two additonal client licenses from one of sagetv resellers just last week, so I could do away with running three sessions of sagetv on my server. If the reseller did offer the mvp client I would have purchased it. I have noticed today on sagetv store website they now offer a mvp extender license. also from everyones posting on sagetv forum the answers where to fill out an application to exchange your sagetv client to a mpv extender client. I have sent an email to there tech support about this issue but still have not recieved a respones on this issue.

Thumbs down Agreed

Sent my fax requesting an extender license on the 1st of Feb - as soon as I got the message from a friend of a friend. Still haven't heard from the folks at Sage... I'll be really disappointed if the > $100 I've spent in licensing in the last couple months doesn't buy a little customer service...

Well I think that it's time for some disappointment since OPUS' word is basically gospel.

That limited offer was quite a while ago so I can't really see any reason to be upset with Sage a couple months after they offered it.

I just bought my license the other day, well worth the $30!

I believe you are correct. When you snooze, you lose.

I would have to agree with you on the response time sage tv support has with there users and resellers. It is very disappointing to wait 4 days to hear a reply back form sage tv support sent to them about this issue. After the second day I finally sent an email to the reseller with the problem I was having. The reseller responded immediately. Then the reseller notified sage. The reseller waited 3 additional days to here from Sage TV before he just refunded the money on the client licenses purchased. This is not a way to keep good customer and reseller relations.

I think you meant to quote jherrick, I actually did run into a problem getting my key but after a few emails it was resolved in less then the 24 hours that Sage says it can take.

What about us PAL users, where a release of a PAL-capable version of the software came out only after the offer expired? I waited since I make it a policy not to use beta software. Any chance?

It was posted in the annoucement thread, and on the actual form you send in that the offer would expire on January 30th, so if you didn't do it before then I'm going to guess your just SOL.

PAL support was listed as part of v4.1.4, which was posted on Dec-20-2005... 5 days after the announcement for v4.1, which was when built-in MVP support started.

Ahh, but 4.1.4 was never released. It was a BETA build. I think the point is that there doesn't seem to be an official release for PAL users, just a testing one, and therefore, the inquiry about license transfer seems to be valid to me.

IMHO

That was the point I was trying to make. Is there an official release of a PAL version even now? I don't think so.
