Sagetv xvid capture

Can sagetv 2.2 or any version capture to a good quality xvid or divx avi file. I ran search and really couldn't find anything on this subject. If this has been covered already, can you provide a link.

Also, how can I adjust PQ settings within sage?

If the encoder supports it (eg the Plextor ConvertX 402) then Sage can record in MPEG-4/Divx, otherwise no.

What PQ settings are you referring to?

The PQ I'm reffering to is that of capturing. is there a sticky or previous post that refers to tweaking to get the best capture PQ. I have xvid and divx codecs and encoders, but my question is will sage use then as it captures.

As far as i know the only way to capture to divx/xvid with sage is through a hardware encoder as Stanger mentioned. Even if there was some way to hack your way through to get Sage to capture in divx through software encoding your cp usage would be sky high...I wouldn't be lookin to go that route. If i want divx real bad I just do an encode. You'd get better quality that way anyways.

You don't have much tweaking to do because hardware encoders is pretty much all Sage uses, therefore your capture settings would be in setup>detailed setup>multimedia>recording quality. After that it comes down to the hardware you're using, signal (I hate analog cable), and one thing that can mess up your PQ is connections. My cable box has a crappy svideo jack and everynow and then i gotta go tweak the cable lol.

Stanger already mentioned one.
