Problem with automatic install of java

In the never ending quest to make my sage with MVP setup more stable I thought I would try reinstalling with the default java (1.4.2_06 i think ...?).

So I uninstalled sage, uninstalled javaand rebooted. I was under the impression that if i just installed sage 4.1.6. it should automatically install the default java version. I tried this a couple of times and java was never installed with sage ...

I've ended up installing 1.4.2_10 for now as I couldn't track down 1.4.2_06. Any idea what I'm missing?

Also, could anyone point me to the 1.4.2_06 JRE - Sun java seem pretty insistent on me taking 1.5.06

When you uninstall java through the Control Panel you'll also need to go and delete the java directory. Seems every version puts itself in its own directory under java. Do that and reinstall Sage and it should install its own.

Question

Is there any recommendation on which version of Jave 1.4.2 should be installed. It seems that version 1.4.2_10 is the lastest in that series.

1.4.2_06 comes with Sage if you don't have any java installed.
