Display TV Series Info for recording

Hello. I have an idea for an enhancement to SageTV. Please let me know if any functionality like this already exists, but I didnt see it mentioned anywhere.

Here is my issue - I am recording The Shield. It recorded 22 episodes. I am watching the current season and I am up to date on the current season's shows. I would like to watch previous seasons however. Out of my 22 recorded episodes, probably 7 are this season, the rest are past seasons. What I would love is some display to show info on the Shield series. It would be cool to show the Shield, list all the seasons, and then be able to dive into the season and see if you have any recordings for shows during that season. I would love to figure out where to start watching out of my 22 episodes.... And I'd like to watch them in order.

I can obviously do this if I compare the original air dates for the episodes, or by looking up the episode names on the internet and comparing to a season listing. But if this type of functionality was built into SageTV that would make the process much easier.

Any ideas, comments?

Rob

Another idea

Another idea would be to just be able to determine the order in which recordings are listed. I believe they are listed in order of 'recorded date' from newest to oldest, but I may be incorrect. Manual recording may have priority too, I forget.

Anyhow, another idea here would be to allow the 'recordings' to be sorted by Original Air Date or Episode ID so that you can see in episodes in chronological order....

I havent really done any research yet, but is this something that is perhaps tweakable in the xml setup files?

Hi,

What about IMDB? Does it do tv shows? If so then you could use Nielm's import.

You can do that now, using the Options popup on the SageTV Recordings screen.

You can set the order recordings are listed in SageTV Recordings' options menu (escape, right-mouse, control-o, or yellow button).

I made the episode number a prominate part of my custom SageTV Recordings and it is now a hidden extra in SageTV V4. Occasionally shows don't air in the exact order of the episode number, but it's generally a good guide to the show order and makes it easy to spot old episodes.
