Four Tuners

Please clarify if this is possible with Sage TV. I’m planning on buying two Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500MCE this would give me four tuners. With this setup I would like to split screen in to four sections and watch 4 channels at the same time and also I want to be able to switch audio between the four channels that are playing.

well, you can definately use the 2 pvr 500's and use 4 tuners at the same time (recording 3, watching one/ or recording 4). Many here are running more than that even...BUT--Sagetv does not currently support PIP (picture in picture) or POP (picture on picture) let alone allowing you to watch 4 shows at the same time....sorry.

Yep ... 4 Live TV Shows on 4 Clients and, well I guess as many Recorded Shows to as many additional Clients as your bandwidth can handle ...

MediaMVP is the most cost effective and best PQ. After that, you would be into a full pc w/ a GF6600GT or higher.

i want to make clear we are all on the same page...the author originally asked how he could watch 4 shows at one time on the same TV. It seems that the thread kind of went in another direction about how he can watch 4 shows at one time using different clients/mvp's. This would be on 4 different televisions. Sage does not support PIP at the moment. Hope this clarrifies anything.

And, I need to put in my two cents that what the OP (original poster) is requesting would be really cool if it were available, especially for watching multiple sporting events (like the Olympics or football on Sundays).

I was thinking that the original poster wanted to hook up a cctv security system to the tv but being able to watch four channels at once would really be cool. Something to put in the sagetv wishlist.

You could hook up the four cameras to a "quad splitter" and run the quad output into one tuner's video input. Then sage could record the signal.

This is how many multi-camera security system setups are used. A splitter into a recorder (tape or tapeless) into a monitor.
