Channel Logo's?

Just found out today that you can add channel logo's to the STV guide. I would like to do this but have no idea how. Where do you get the logo's, and how do you install them? I did a search on this, but it looked like all the posts about it were old. How complicated is this? If anyone has done this with 4.0 I would appreciate some help.
Thanks!

The method for this has not changed (at least for the duration of my sage experience). THe information that you find in the old posts is still applicable. Basically you want to save the logo in the <sage home directory>\sage tv\channelLogos. The only change in the procedures that I am aware of is the changing of the home directory from frey technologies to sagetv.

There is a comment on it on p. 228 for the v4.1 PDF manual & that info applies to all recent versions.

The customizations index has a few links for logos towards the bottom of the list.

Let's not forget the Sage Community Development website either... It is linked to in the list that Opus4 referenced, just thought I should include it here.

I tried to make myself useful and have updated the Logopacks page so the attachments are listed above organized by region (where possible --- Steve McNally where do you live?)

I copied these logo's into the sagetv logo folder, but nothing seems to have happened. No logo's in guide. Is there something else I need to do?

If you've got the logos named properly & in the correct subdirectory, then see the manual link I posted above... it says you can either wait a while for the logos to show up, or restart.

Also, make sure to use the Options command on the Program Guide screen & check that logo display is enabled.

If logos still don't show up after restarting SageTV and checking the logo setting, then they are probably not named correctly or are not in the correct location.

I've got channel logos working great on my clients. Nice feature.

But - is it possible to have logos on placeshifter clients? If so, how?

thanks!

As far as I know, the Placeshifter clients will get their logos from the ChannelLogos dir on the server that it connects to.

Unless this requires SageTV to be shutdown, nope. I've got the logos working everywhere else without shutting down sage, but the placeshifter client - no joy.

Not really a big deal. I plan to use placeshifter primarily to schedule recordings remotely (until I add the web interface).

You've got a filled-in ChannelLogos dir on your SageTV server PC? If you just added it, yeah, it might take a while for the server to see the logos, or you could restart. I don't remember doing anything special to get logos in my PS client.

all the logos are in the Channellogos dir on the server.

Gotta be careful about restarting sage. Wife acceptance is still low (what was wrong with TiVo?).

I'll find time tonight or tomorrow morning to restart. That'll probably fix it. I'll report back when done.

I don't remember if I did anything special for mine, but PS and the web client both display icons. Just make sure the image filenames match your channel names as displayed in sage's guide.

I did have to restart the sage server. The instructions I saw said the icons could be added while sage was running.

While true, you won't SEE them until you restart sage.

Done.

Working perfectly.
