Need Another Aspect Ratio Setting

I think we could use an additional aspect ratio that we can configure. Maybe titled “Zoom” or “Custom”

For a little background I am using Neilm's automatic aspect ratio plug in to switch between the existing available options. I consider it a must have when you have a 16:9 screen.

Fill: I have set to clip a few pixels off of both sides, vert and horiz stretch are set to about 102%. I use this for HD broadcasts where the source signal has a bit of garble-di-gook on the top or sides. An over scan setting so to speak.

16:9: I have set to stretch the vertical to about 130%. I use this for 4:3 ratio broadcasts that have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. When you adjust the vertical zoom on 4:3 broadcasts it seems to also automatically zoom the horizontal and it then fills a 16:9 screen nicely.

Source: I leave alone for DVD and most imported material

4:3: I use for SD broadcasts with a little bit of horizontal stretch to make standard programming fill the screen a little better with out looking too distorted.

So that leave the scenario where an HD channel broadcasts a signal in the 16:9 ratio, however, the program is only presented in the center of the screen in 4:3. The left and right sides of the remaining area are filled with gray bars that are broadcast, not inserted by the TV. That’s no big deal for most programming but some of these shows not only have the gray bars but also black bars on top and bottom of the 4:3 programming. In this case I'd like to zoom in to make the actuall program fill the screen.

If I select the 16:9 aspect ratio it will stretch the vertical to fit the screen as I have it set to do so for normal 4:3 broadcasts, but it won’t stretch the horizontal. The source broadcast already fills the screen so I would need to set the horizontal stretch also to correctly zoom in on the content. If I adjust the horizontal stretch similarly Im sure I could get it to look right, however, then it will excessively stretch the horizontal on programs with top and bottom black bars that are broadcast in 4:3.

Thus the need for another customizable aspect ratio. One where I can set the Horizontal and Vertical Zoom with out affecting the other aspect ratio’s that I currently use.

I don't know if this can be addressed in an STV import or if it is a core issue. But I thought I'd post it hear to see if anyone else agree's with the need.
