Sage VMR9 vs purevideo VMR9....

Hi,

I'm a little confused with regards to the VMR9 setup. I have a 6600GT PCI-E card with 128 meg VIdeo card hooked to my TV via component vidio output at 480i, and using dualview, with the TV setup as teh secondary screen. (This is where I keep Sage) I have the latest Nvidia driver 84.12.

I have the Nvidia purevideo codec installed.

Here are my settings in SAGE:
Video Renderer: VMR9
Video Decoder: Default
DXVA MPEG Mode: Default
DXVA Interlacing: Default
Dscaler Deinterlacing Filter: Disabled
Audio Renderer: Nvidia COdec

When I launch a dvd, i do get the nvidia icon on the task bar. On that the settings are as follows:

Display Type: COntent Default
Hardware Acceleration: Checked
De-Interlace COntrol: Automatic
De-Interlace Mode: VMR Pixel Adaptive
Enhanced nView Support: VMR9

With this setup, The video is VERY nice, but when watching anythign that has fast motion, the video gets a little pixely/choppy. If I change the Sage renderer setting to "Default", everything looks fine, even fast motion. Only problem is i dont feel its as crisp as when I had vmr9 set in sage.

My question is, If I am setting VMR9 in the nvidia codec, and VMR9 in sage, am i being redundant by selecting it twice? Am I supposed to get a better pictrue settign it vmr9 in both? If so, what could be limiting me from getting a superior picture , my video card? If I were to upgrade my video card to a 6800 GS with 256 ram, would that help me?

Just tryign to find optimal solution...I'm still new to this stuff, but I'm learnign slowly...

I suspect your problem is the dualview. I don't know if an upgrade will help, but I'd try clone mode or single display mode and see if that helps first.

Would you suggest I use Clone view, with Video Mirror?

I tried using the video mirror, with dualview, but did not have good results. the video would never fit the entire screen....I'm going to try in clone mode...

The VMR settings in the nVidia codec don't do anything in SageTV.

So the RAM would have no bearing on VMR9?

By definition, is VMR9 supposed to look better?

Try setting your tv as the primary monitor. I used to run similar and there was always a line that showed up in the middle of the secondary monitor.
