Diabolical Subtitles
Howdy. I have an issue where my subtitles are always on during DVD playback.
During real DVD or ripped DVD VIDEO_TS playback, I have the cheesy subtitles on. If I goto DVD Menu and toggle subtitles, then I get a second set. The second set looks more refined, as if they were put there by the DVD itself, while the ones that are always on look more generic (i.e. the same for every movie). The generic ones do not appear to be placed optimally, but perhaps rendered by the DVD player itself. While the ones that actually toggle can show up in different places per the DVD's style. I use the default DVD player. Is there a way to get the generic subtitles to turn off? Thank you, DwarF

Someone told me that this was a problem with the codec you are using for your DVD playback. And they aren't subtitles, they are closed captions apparently. I ended up upgrading from v2 to v4 to fix the problem. I know that's not ideal for you probably, but for me it just gave me a reason to do what I was planning on for a while.
