Can I make the small preview video bigger?

When I'm viewing the guide, is there a hidden setting somewhere to make the preview window bigger?

thanks

I also found it too small, and modified my STV in Studio to make it bigger. I remember I had to change two or three widgets for this. I could try to make an import for those changes, but it might take a while ...

I'm pretty new at this. Don't really have any idea what STV or Studio are?? Maybe you can point me to some documentation to help out.

thanks.

STV files are what SageTV uses to define the entire UI. Custom STVs can be found in the SageTV Customizations forum section.

Studio is the part of SageTV that is used to edit STV files to modfiy the UI's capabilities. Info on that can be found in the SageTV Studio section.

Changing the preview window size is definitely a customization, since there is no built-in option for that in the default default STV (SageTV3.xml).

Yeah sorry, I shouldn't have simply assumed that all this makes sense to you ... Well, Andy explained it very well ...

Thanks. I'm at the bottom of the learning curve. Have managed to import a nice customization to make the mini guide the default & let you browse channels w/o changing and I love it, but that's about as advanced as I am yet.

So, if you do get an import set up, I think a lot of people would be interested in that.

thanks again.

I just wanted to echo the sentiment. I'd love a larger preview window since I watch TV on a 27". Ideally, if anyone does write an import, please try to make the size user configurable in some way up to the maximum of its container.

Ok, here it is. It might not seem to be that much larger, but it makes a noticeable difference on the TV screen. I found that if I make it even larger the EPG guide itself becomes too small to be useful.

Unzip it to your SageTV\SageTV folder (with preserving path info), this will copy a JAR file to the JARs directory and the stvi file to STVs\SageTV3. Make a backup of your current STV (I know Sage does one automatically, but just to be safe), restart Sage, and import the STVi file. I have only tested it on the stock SageTV3 STV, but it should work together with most other imports as well.

Sorry amac, but this would be up to someone else. I am not a GUI guru, and spent quite some time tweaking several widget properties to get it working with this one size, making it configurable would involve a lot more work.

I like it. Will install it tonight.

I'm really starting to like Sage, I never knew it was this customizable. Now I'll have to start learning how to make my own customizations.

thanks.

Sure, will do that ...
Didn't think this would be of general interest ...

Hi,

I am getting the larger black Preview screen in the TV schedule...However, the tv screen (display)is still regular size...Using SageTV V4.1.9.80 with regular stv and the Germ Stv.

Any suggestions....

Hi sagetvkid,

it is quite likely that the menu/widget structure has changed in the beta ... I am not using it, and only tested the modifications with the 4.1.3 STV
