MouseWheel - Reprogram
Hello - it seems that Sage changes the channel when I scroll with the mousewheel. Is it possible to reprogram it to change the volume instead. I have too many times over the last day accidentally moved the mouse wheel when the Sage window has the focus only to lose the "live TV" I was watching.
Thanks, Mike |

Did you look in the -Setup details-link commands and see if it is in there or if you can set it there?

I just realized... you can set these properties to define what SageTV commands are fired by mouse wheel motion:
wheel_down_event_code=12 wheel_up_event_code=11 Assign the event number of the command you want, as listed starting on p. 192 of the v4.1 manual. - Andy

Thanks - I see that but it brings me to a few more general questions:
1. How do I know when to modify the "client properties" and when to modify the "Sage Properties." 2. When I modify these properties, all too often it's like Sage immediately overwrites the file with either a backup or something else and it's like when I directly edit the properties file it doesn't "hold or save." Thanks, Mike |

See the top of p. 218 of the v4.1 manual. (First section of Appendix A)
That explains which properties file to edit & the fact that you have to exit SageTV before editing the file. - Andy

I exited Sage before modifying the file. The only way it took was if I deleted the backup file first. Not sure why but the wheel now controls the volume rather than the channels which is exactly what I wanted.
Thanks again, Mike |

Someone pointed out that if you don't see all the extensions, then you may end up editing the wrong file. I don't know if that applies to your situation. If using Notepad, I always make sure that Format -> Word Wrap is not checked so the file doesn't get messed up.

I may not have exited out of Sage the first time and it could be that it saves to a backup upon exiting and then restored from the backup or something. Seems to work when I tried it again.
Good point about turning off the Word Wrap. Thanks again, Mike |
