Question Dual OSD when using a SAT box

Hi,

I have built my fist HTPC using various spare parts. I am currently evaluating Sage TV and I am very impressed with it’s functionality. I am a Canadian Bell ExpressVu satellite user. I am using the Hauppauge IR blaster to control my satellite box (PVR 5100). As you all know when you change the channel on the satellite the satellite receiver shows it’s own on screen information and Sage TV shows it’s OSD over top of the satellite OSD. Because of the transparent OSD an Sage TV I find this double OSD on the screen looks bad. Can any of you comment on how you deal with this issue in your setup?

Is it possible to configure Sage TV to not show the OSD on a channel change. Could Sage TV be configure to only show the OSD when I hit the info or enter button? If I could do that then I could use the SAT OSD information when I change a channel.

Thanks for any advice, I have enjoyed reading this forum!

-Sean

There isn't an option to turn off the SageTV OSD like that w/o editing the STV to make it work that way. (Or just hit the Info command to make the OSD go away more quickly.)

Is there an option on the sat box to tell it not to show its own OSD? The box's OSD is also getting recorded by SageTV whenever it gets displayed.

From my research so far I do not have the option of turning of the OSD of my SAT receiver. I have the Bell Expressvu 5100 model. I believe this is a re-branded dish networks model (It is a PVR). I am unaware of any way to turn off the OSD in this receiver. That is why I am hoping there is a way to do it in Sage.
