Second MVP Question

I'm evalating the extender now and have one MVP. If I buy a second one, it will only be used maybe an hour or two per week. Would a single license work if I powered off the main MVP when using the second one? I know $30.00 isn't a lot of money for the second license, but with 2 kids in college every penny counts

Each media extender license is for simultaneous use, so as long as you are connecting only 1 MVP or Placeshifter client at a time, 1 license will suffice. If you ever want to connect both at the same time, that is when you will need to have a 2nd license.

Thank you for the info.

By the way, I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing, very pleased indeed.

I've got my second MVP running now and have another question. It appears I need to have the first MVP powered off, not just turned off. But I've also noticed the green off button on my remote now puts SageTV into standby mode and doesn't turn it off. Two questions.

1. How do I turn off the MVP now w/o powering off and
2. Would that allow the other MVP to work with SageTV?

What version of SageTV are you using? One of the betas after the initial release w/MVP support changed things such that the remote's power button turns the MVP off.

Version is 4.1.3.67 and my remote's (the original MVP remote) green button puts the MVP in standby.

That's what I figured -- a later beta changed that functionality.

Thank you - will turning MVP1 off using the remote then allow MVP2 to connect if I only have one license?

Yes, that's what I meant should happen in the latest versions.
