Placeshifting through proxy server
Can I placeshift through a proxy server?
I went into my office (once in a blue moon) and I can't connect to Placeshifter. I can, though, connect to neilm's sage web server. But I do have to have a proxy address entered into internet explorer to make any web access work. Thanks, Stacy |

I do from work.. however the proxy server has to allow the port you are trying to use and you must have the proxy client installed (assuming you are using MS IIS Proxy server)

Most authenticated proxy servers tend to be application specific (as in the application layer of the network), e.g. HTTP.
I'm pretty sure that the placeshifter protocol isn't HTTP. Thus, I'm pretty sure that those of us behind the types of proxies that are HTTP-specific can't use the placeshifter. |

... unless you use software to create an HTTP tunnel. I've used such software in the past, and the results (performace) were abysmal.
