Question Black screen and no audio on Client

Ok. I was running Sage Server v4.0 in a WinXP Pro SP2 machine using a PVR-350 w/ S-video out and Sage Client v4.0 on a WinXP Home SP1 machine without hitch for some time until last night.

After the time change the Client was showing an hour off so I went into the client properties file and changed the sync time to sage server to false and from that point on it won't display any video or audio when watching Live TV. Viewing previously recorded material works fine. Of note, after I did the properties change both the client and server locked up and I had to do a control-alt-delete to shut down both programs. Since I have rebooted both machines multiple times.

When I try to watch live tv the program info shows up with the VCR controls and then disappears leaving a blue empty box at the top of the screen which then disappears at the normal timeout time. If I click on the screen with the mouse, the blue box appears but no info in it or the vcr controls. I can right click to stop playback or hit Control-G to do the same.

I have video playback set to Overlay and Sage MPEG decoder for video and audio. I have noticed that if I go to Setup Video Sources and click on Color Calibration that I get the sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x0): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback. Sometimes I saw a "No Signal" image flash on the screen for an instant but I know I am getting a signal to the Sage Server.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem? The puzzling thing is that everything had been working flawlessly for many months before this occurred and I didn't do anything besides modifying the one setting in the properties file. I have since installed v4.1.3 of Sage Server and Client and the problem still exists.

My video codes on the machine running SageTV Client are as follows:

Thanks for the help! BTW: I have done searches on the forums and tried the fixes I have seen for similar problems with no success.

More info.. problem fixed?

Well. I turned on debugging to see if I could find out any more information and suddenly everything is working fine in Overlay - Sage MPEG Decoder mode.

I turned off debugging but I am getting a file called tv.sage.mod.0.log and tv.sage.mod.0.log.lck and the SageTV Recordings menu no longer shows the channel names and instead shows things like
(6) Channel [stationID=10093...

How do I turn off the tv.sage.mod logging and get the sage recordings back to normal? I am using the "5309" customized settings with mlbdude menus.

Thanks

EDIT: Using my Sage Server properties file I made edits to the sage recordings settings and got things looking fine again. I am still getting the log file though.

Problem back again

Well the problem seems to come and go and I am not sure why. Appears that turning debugging on wasn't the cureall I had hoped for. Now I can't get the audio or video to appear on Live TV whether or not debugging is on.

I am getting network encoder playback detected: false
when I try to watch live TV. My debug file is attached below.

HELP!! Thanks,
Chad

shatter, did you get this fixed? if so, how so? I'm having a similar problem, also w/ Hauppauge tuner card (500MCE).

Thanks,
Ryan

Make that three of us. Same tuner card. Things were working great for years but now I'm getting intermittent "Connection Lost" errors.

The only thing I can think of that I've messed with recently was an abortive attempt to get closed captioning working. That was over a month ago and the "connection lost" problem just started happening a couple weeks ago.

Any suggestions on how to diagnose this?

Thanks.

I've noticed that my "connection lost" problems occur at almost exactly the same every evening. But I'm not sure if my problem DHCP lease related -- according to my router I'm not even two days into a four day lease.

However, the timing of "connection lost" error is about when the power came back on after been out ~24 hours from an icestorm. Coincedence?

It looks like the connection is dropped at about the same time as the EPG is being updated. Could that be somehow related?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.
