Remote Control Buttons and DVD's
Hello - I have another question about programming the remote. I do not understand why Sage won't let you use the same button to do two different unrelated things in Sage. I know there are some commands that are built in that do this already. But many are missing.
For example: there is a DVD Next Chapter and Previous Chapter command. It kind of seemed logical for me to assign the Left and Right buttons to that but it then asks me if I want to unassign Left and Right when I try and assign those buttons. What can I do to use the DVD commands without using all my buttons? I have a Hauppauge 45 remote and it still seems like I'm going to run out. I wish they had one of those slider switches on it to allow the remote to then send different codes when sliding the switch over. The DTV remote has that but for some unexplainable reason my USBUIRT is reading the channel up and channel down on that remote as the same IR code..not sure why. (Edited: it seems like either a remote with a slider switch or buttons for TV, DVD, etc which after being pressed make all the other buttons send different codes seems like the best solution; is that correct)? Thanks again, Mike Last edited by mike1961; 04-05-2006 at 02:26 AM. |

Most people would use the skip/replay button on their remote. Those are the ones near the fwd/rew buttons. Those are transport buttons usally understood to be used with media player controls. Stop, play, pause are the rest of the transport buttons. These would make the most sense since they have no other use while in a DVD screen.

The other DVD-specific commands can be used from the pop-up meu via the Options command. I think most of those would be used less frequently. - Andy

gplasky - actually, I do need the two ff and rew buttons so that I can do a quick 10 seconds or the FF #2 or Rew #2 to go 2.5 minutes (or whatever we set them to).
Opus - thanks for the info. That helps A LOT about the options, channel up/down and about just pressing a number and pressing select also the info about the channel. I'm actually thinking about using another remote anyway where I can move the slider over for more commands. I'm still wrestling with why my DirecTv remote Vol up and Vol down register the same codes. Otherwise, it would probably be a perfect remote for me. I made a post on the USB-UIRT forum. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike |
