JRE 1.5
I just tried to upgrade to JRE 1.5 but I got an error saying "cannot locate java virutal machine" I then uninstalled 1.4, rebooted and installed 1.5 It said it worked, but I couldn't run any java and the java icon never showed up in the control panel. I went through this for about an hour of installing/uninstalling and still can't get 1.5 to work. I know I used to have it working on this box, but down graded to 1.4. Any ideas why I can't get 1.5 to install now?

I have spent hours on this and still cannot get it to work. I'm getting close to just formatting and reinstalling. This is driving me nuts. I get the same error every time "cannot find java virtual machine" and then "cannot find main class".. I looked on Java's website, and they had some fixes, but none of them worked. Its so weird that 1.4 works fine, but 1.5 gives this error. I'm hoping the new version of 1.5 will fix this.
