Market price for PVR-250s

My friend and I are looking into exchanging HTPC hardware, but to do so fairly I'd like to know the fair market value for 3 functioning PVR-250s (the good kind w/out the heat sync). They've been working in concert together for 1-2 years and have served me well. But the time has come to say goodbye.

Going to start from scratch and build a more streamlined system and figuring I can get two 500's, shrink footprint, and be more current since I'd like to add a 4th tuner. My latest SageTV convert can probably get my 3 tuners cheaper than he can on the open market.

Please post your ideas. We're friends, and he's reading this post too, so we're looking for a fair exchange.

Thanks!

Well, new it's $150 off their site and I can see on eBay they've gone from anywhere between $40 and $90 (with remote). I'm getting rid of my two as soon as my r5000s show up (woot!) - I'm planning to put mine up on Craig's List for $50 a pop myself (no remotes). But for a _friend_ I'd probably drop that all the way to $45

You should check out the Nvidia DualTV thread - the people that have them in there seem to be saying that it's better then the PVR500.

You're not thinking about this correctly, ToonGal. Fair market value is what you sell to a stranger at. Selling to a friend is a whole nother slide-rule. Go with what you feel is right.

First of all, thanks everyone for the feedback here! I now own 3 PVR's (with most of TG's h/w) and am building my own HTPC. If only PCAlchemy sold SageTV MVP licenses, I'd be off and running full bore!

FYI, teknubic, in case it's not obvious, I'm the 'friend' in question.

TG has high moral integrity and is not only going about this the "correct" way, but extremely in my favor. The plan (her idea) was to find out an unbiased FMV so she can sell me 3 for the price of 2. In addition, she's throwing in all sorts of things in this package at no cost, as well as the time, help, and friendship to get me started. I'll make it up to her in other ways.

Just wanted to make sure TG is seen correctly, because she's great. She's a little burned out by the negativity of these forums over the past few years, and I don't want her to leave here again. (If nothing else, I need her continued involvement w/ Sage for my own purposes.)

It's difficult to project tone in a forum. My post was not intended to persecute.
I'm glad everything worked out well for you both.
