Any way to keep program guide from displaying past shows?

Is there any way to keep the program guide from scrolling to shows that have already passed?
When I scroll to the right to look at shows coming up, then scroll back, I would like it to stop at the current time (like the program guide does on my dish).
Now it just keeps scrolling and I'm not interested in what was on.

I could see maybe having it pause at the current time, and then having to release and repress the left arrow to continue. However, I am very interested in being able to "go back in time" and see the earlier schedule when I need to.

I use a mouse, but can't you just exit the guide and come back?

press whatever shortcut key is mapped to the Guide command, and you instantly go back to 'Now'
