Extra files for the same show - bizarre problem

Here's something wierd. I tried setting a clearing the Watched to make the show start at the beginning and it wasn't working so I tried just pressing the set/clear watched a few times even and it still did not work. But, later I noticed there were a bunch of the same files in the directory as follows:

AmericanIdol-2552331-0.mpg
AmericanIdol-2552331-1.mpg
AmericanIdol-2552331-2.mpg
AmericanIdol-2552331-3.mpg
AmericanIdol-2552331-4.mpg
AmericanIdol-2552331-5.mpg

What would cause this?

Thanks,
Mike

Is this based on your question here? If so, the set/clear Watched isn't a trick you should use on an ongoing recording. If a fav is recording & you set it as watched, it will probably stop recording, though I don't know how soon that will take effect. Perhaps it stopped recording & then restarted in synch when you toggled Watched.

The problem then remains as to what is the best way to start a recording back at the beginning again without having a mouse? I think you're right about while a fav is recording not to set it as watched because it doesn't work anyway. It doesn't seem to stop the recording (maybe because it's a fav) but continues to start new ones. Perhaps Nielm's stop routine is the best way to go at this time or do you know of a good way to do it in Sage?

Thanks,
Mike

Niel commented in the other thread about another method: use the TimeScroll command along with REW2 to jump back to the start.

Edit: When is it starting in the middle of the show? I don't watch live TV, but I just tried watching a recording in progress & it started at the beginning.

On some rare occasions I have had this happen. Maybe one out of every 300 recordings. Could be a glitch in the USB bus, IDE bus or CPU spike. I get this even when nothing is running or being watched. I typically try to defrag and stop unnecessary background processes when I see this happen.
I use VideoReDo to join the files together if it is not too messed up.
