Problem with Scheduling Look Ahead

My sage tv died on me. nothing would show up in scheduling upcoming recordings etc..

My system was getting more and more unstable so I figured it was my system and not sage so I fiknally gave up and clean installed the whole system (it was due for it anyway :-)

Once I finished the clean install I reinstalled Sage and then restored the sage folder backup. I then got worried the problem PERSISTED so it was sage and not the system

so I had to clean install sage as well could not restore the backup and all was well time to redo all my customizations etc..

Could not get my custom STV to work it would have a ghosting effect that would make using it impossible (but the restored same version backup did not have this problem ???)

so i gave up on that too and then I found the unlock code for the v3 stv and neilem's menu mods !! nice back where I wanted to be for the most part

then I changed the look ahead to 14 days again and bam the problem came back

NOTHING in upcoming recordings etc.. I put it back to 3 days and the shows appeared again.

Suggestions ? what am I doing wrong that I am losing my 14day lookahead capacity ? 1209600000 I believe is the number I used.

I tried 10 days and it also fails to render a schedule. space bar shows next 200 hours 0 shows recording schedule shows 0 shows etc.. etc.. guide works it sees the shows but NOTHING records.

FYI when I use the premiers and first runs menu options IT can see the full 14 days and so can the live guide.

Ok 6 days works

9 days works

tried 10 days again still wont work. also makes sage REALLY sluggish. I waited 15 minutes still no joy so I went back to 9 days and it works fine again.

so it appears it wont let me go past 9 days. any idea why ??

This is a clean install of XP sp2 and sage 5 - changing STV's has no effect on this.

As you know, Sage only supports the default 3-day lookahead.

If you have a lot of favorites, Sage can have problems compiling the schedule and get stuck in a loop never finishing a schedule. For a while in the v3 and early v4 releases, my system could not even handle a 3-day lookahead due to a lot of favorites. I had to reduce it down to 2-days to run stable. Now, with a new more powerful system and the newer releases, it runs fine at 3-days. I have not increased it to above 3-days, since I like stabiltity more than needing to lookahead more than 3 day.

Way back when, when I had just a few favorites, yes, it did run with a 14-day lookahead, but once I packed in the favorites, it would start locking up the scheduler.

It just appears that for your system, 9-days is the max that is stable.

Bizzarre ! thanks did not know that

it was fine at 14 days for nearly 2 years now. Did not give me issues till last week. I guess it took this long for me to have "enough" favorites and scheduled recordings to give it a hard time or something.

I will try reducing the number of favorites and see if that fixes it! (I have to do some cleaning up in there anyway :-)

Thanks!
