Since Ver 5 Important Guide Problem

Please help me here: Ever since I installed Ver 5, if I go to the Guide and type a channel like say 501 then at the upper left where it shows Sun 4/30, rather than display 501 it displays null501 and I press Select and then when I do it the second time and each time thereafter time it then works and takes me to that section in the guide. But, once I leave the guide and come back, it does it again and displays null601 (or whatever numbers I press first say null).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Mike

It happened again

I've spent over an hour upgrading to the latest version and rebuilding my properties file from scratch. Now I have this guide problem again. What in the world is causing this? See the attached jpg.

Thanks,
Mike

Have you customized the STV in any way?

I think you've got a line like this somewhere in the STV:

NumericEntry = null

It should be:

NumericEntry = ""

Oh, wait -- you said it started as null, then worked after the first try... so, you've got an attribute named "NumericEntry" that is initialized as null.

I can't find anything in my sage client properties that except sagetv_recordingsnull

I'm using GermSage. Any ideas?

EDITED: what is an attribute and where would I find it? I can't find it in Sage client properties.

Thanks,
Mike

The issue is in the STV file, not the properties file. The STV is what defines the entire interface; the properties file is just a list of various settings.

Yes - that fixed it. It had to do with GermSage. One thing I cannot understand about GermSage is that it seems like everytime I go into the setup and do certain things, GermSage makes a copy. So there is a V1.6, 1.6-1, 1.6-2, 1.6-3, etc at over 3 megs each. I'm not sure why it does this and if I can just delete the older ones. Also, I'm not understanding why I have a 1.6 for the stv but 1.7 for the xml and if I'm supposed to use the stv file or xml for my STV property. It seems like I should use the xml but ironically in the setup it does not even display the 1.7 unless I first set the stv line in the property file to germsage 1.7.

But, your advice did resolve the problem otherwise.

Thanks again,
Mike

All Sage Themes (STVs) need to have an extension of .xml. If it doesn't have that extension you won't see it in Sage. If you have any themes (STVs) that have an extension of .stv you CAN just change it to .xml.
Sage makes a copy of your theme (STV) whenever you add a plugin. This is for safety sake in case the plugin messes everything up. You just revert to the previous numbered one. (I'm calling them themes because it becomes confusing when you talk about the STV and you also want to talk about the .stv extension.)
