You could use another remote, but the MVP's IR receiver is a bit picky -- as long as the other remote is using an RC5 IR code set (usually a Philips device, but not ALL Philips devices), you can teach alternate codes to the MVP & then you should be able to clear most of the original IR settings (maybe not power on/off).
