Need help setting up Act-IR200L

Following the instructions led me to locking up SageTV and had to shut it down 3 times now. Everytime I get to the point of pressing and holding down the Satellite Box Remote controller for the expeected 2 minute wait it never does anything. I try to exit out of SageTV after 4 minutes and its hung.

hI think the instructions say to point the Remote Controller that came with the Satelite Box and not the hauppauge remote that I have programed for SageTV.
I have the IR receiver plugged into the back of the Hauppauge 250 card. I have the Act-IR200L plugged into the Com! serial port on motherboard. In BIOS it is activated and confirmed its COM1. Then I have the ACT-IR200L pointed 6" away from the IR receiver on the front of the satilitte box. Im using a brand new Hughes Silver Edition DirectTV sat box

Whatr could I be doing wrong?

I must get this working today or this whole project is a bust. Have a customer coming over tomarrow to sell these products. If this isnt functional by then it looks like I wont be able to do this. Ive been telling 3 customers for 3 weeks now excuses untill I get this Media Center built.

Can someone please walk me thru isntalling the ACT-IT200L with a DIrectTV Satellite box?

I assume that since I am using SageTV 1.4 I dont need girder or any other software or DLL files to get this Activis to work

Here's some options: (You don't need Girder or any other software to use the IR-200L through SageTV)

1) Did you install the software that came with the Actisys? If you did unplug the IR-200L, uninstall the software. Then shut down, plug the IR-200L back in and restart Sage.

2) What happens if you select one of the pre-programmed selections instead of programming from scratch? I believe by default we give you the codes for one model of DirecTV receiver.

3) You should be using the Satellite remote to program the IR-200L, not the Hauppauge remote. The Hauppauge IR cable and remote have nothing to do with the IR-200L. If you are using the Satellite remote, and getting the problems, try using a universal remote that you may have programmed to work with your satellite receiver.

4) Try using a different method to teach the IR-200L the remote codes. Instead of just pressing and holding the button on the remote try doing a "tap, tap", "press, tap" or "tap, press".

Great that worked! Thank you for the assistance. The instructions were a little hazy on what remote to use with what IR device. Your explaination clearified it. Thanks for the help
