SAgeRecorder & DirecTV?
I understand that SageTV will directly control a DirecTV receiver but can SageRecorder also control the On/Off and channel funstions on a sat receiver?

SAgeRecorder & DirecTV
Any possibility of being able to use the direct serial connection in SageRecorder now or in the forseeable future?

Yep. In Setup, set the source to use the StubTransmitter, and then select any Device for the corresponding input. Quit SageRecorder. Go into the SageRecorder.properties file and find that device name you just selected, replace it with COM1, COM2 or whatever port you want to use for serial control.
It should then do serial control through that com port for that input.

Im having problems getting Sage Recorder to change channels. I installed the trial of SageTV and Recorder- channels change fine in TV so i know the cable and hardware is capable.
So, on the setup page under sources I did the following: IR Transmit: Stub Transmitter Port 1 Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II S-Video Input StubDevice --> AutoTune Then i edit the preference file and replace: mmc/encoders/1642691032/3/0/cable_based_rf=true mmc/encoders/1642691032/3/0/device_name=StubDevice mmc/encoders/1642691032/3/0/last_channel=256 with mmc/encoders/1642691032/3/0/cable_based_rf=true mmc/encoders/1642691032/3/0/device_name=COM1 mmc/encoders/1642691032/3/0/last_channel=256 that should work right? Using DirecTV with Sony SAT-B3 thanks!! |

Is the psycholica example correct? I'm about to try the same thing, as my prior attempts have failed to control.
