Aspect ratio cycling?

Am I the only one who wishes Sage had a "cycle aspect ratio" command? Or is it already there and I just stupidly missed it?

It's pretty tough to find 4 spare buttons on a remote to change aspect ratios - would be much easier if it could be done with a single button!

Wouldn't it be easier to use no buttons at all? If so try out the Aspect Ratio Switcher.

You can setup a default aspect ratio for sage recordings, another default for imported videos, then you can assign aspect ratios to specific shows. It will automatically change the aspect ratio when you start a show.

I like the idea of having a cycling option. There are times when "aspect ratio: source" just doesn't cut it, and I don't have enough buttons on the remote for all three aspect ratios.

Just started wondering about this myself. Could HIP or Girder help? Is this an STVi candidate?

Girder could of course do it (it can do anything)...

I will see if I can put it into my auto-aspect-switcher thingy (What do think of:
A/R Source == set A/R source
A/R Fill == Set A/R fill
A/R 4x3 == Cycle A/R forward
A/R 16x9 == Cycle A/R backward...

Dude,

That would be perfect - automatic switching PLUS cycling.

Or, how about using the "Custom1", "Custom2"... commands? That way people already using the specific aspect commands wouldn't be negatively affected.

I agree about using one of the Custom commands. There also should be a setting to choose which of the 4 aspect ratios to include in the cycle list for those that only want to use 2 or 3 aspect ratios instead of all 4.

For example, install the "auto-aspect-switcher thingy", go to setup and choose 2, 3, or all 4 aspect ratios to include in a cycle list. Setup a remote button to the specified custom command and cycle away!
