Internet Streaming to the MVP

I was curious if anyone has experience with setting up the MVP to access a SageTV server over the Internet. ie: not on the local LAN.

1. Is this possible?
2. How did you do it?
3. What network speed requirements?

Thanks.

You would need:
1. Network goodput (throughput minus Layer 1-4 overhead) >10mbs for MPEG2
1a. 10mbs from the server
1b. 10mbs @ the MVP
2. You would need a minimal jitter service contract so that your traffic is preferentially services by the Internet CPE (your device), PE and Core (not gonna happen anytime soon)
3. That contract would need to provide a minimum sustained bitrate of 10mbs; burst is optional
4. You would need to wrap the BootP and TFTP data through a L2TP/PPTP type of link; since TFTP is UDP your chances of it working are even fewer based upon link conditions and datagram TTL
5. Did I mention that these aren't Sage problems?
6. Have you looked at the Placeshifter? That can handle resource disadvantaged network links (i.e. Internet)? It's quite nice
