Because wireless is not a very robust connection. While it has more than sufficient bandwidth for SD, or even HD, it is often (usually) unable to maintain that bandwidth consistently enough to avoid interrupting the stream.

hey all --quick update.. official roadblock has been hit on Dlinks end. I'm going to stop banging my head against this wall because i have a "feeling" something will be available in the near future. What is near future? i don't know but its close enough for us to let this ride....

Although I won't have HD myself for at least 45 days.

this is the best no news, news i've seen concerning sage since version 3 beta!!!!

sage 6 rocks and all but a biggie for me back in 3 was getting FSE. if we can get HD extenders, especially if those extenders could do wmv9 and divx/xvid as well HD streams then i'll be happy as heck and wont have to buy the bits i need for a new bedroom client!

c'mon sage let me put my money in your pocket for hardware rather than newegg's pocket

Just to clarrify--i have NO idea at all on timeframe for this. we all know that they have been working on an HD extender. Its just a matter of time...

I really wish we could get some official word here, even if it is just an estimate. If it is going to be 3+ months, then I'll build HTPC client machines. If it is going to be less than 3 months, then I'll wait for the HD extender. I'll buy two.

Considering that v6 isn't even finalized yet I would guess it is going to be months rather than weeks. Next time I have a beer with Narflex I'll be sure to ask him

Its is very frustrating to have to wait for something that is so very vital to the future of Sage and and HD viewing solution. My main stumbling block to using Sage fulltime is a Low Cost Thin Client capable of playing back HD content. Building CLient PC's for remote viewing is just way to costly for me.

Could not agree more. I am hopelessly in love with the MVPs and would not have and PVR solution that did not support a thin client. I have not gone HD yet, and won't until there is a workable think client solution. A PC in the living room is a non-starter for me. I know I can build a nice small, quiet, HTPC that will work but the cost is way too high.

I would also love to see a HD extender, but I've yet to see anyone comment on how they perform when viewing SD content compared to the Nvidia cards. An HD extender would be great, but not all content is HD and if it is a step backwards for SD I'd have to stick with my PC client.

My SDTV recordings look extremely good on my DSM-520. As good as the MVP or better since they don't have to be Transcoded. They are currently ASP format MP4 files.

Edit: I would use it all the time but it doesn't have the ZOOM capabilty of a SageTV Client PC so my letterboxed movies appear really small unless I switch to 480P so that I can have my TV do the Zooming.

I think the MediaMVP is poorly implemented, at least the wireless part. I had no problems streaming DVDs wirelessly when I was using it. (wireless, not the MVP)

Hi nicklaz,

The downside to this as opposed to the D-Link DSM-520 referred to in this thread is that the product you mention has no HDMI port, whereas the D-Link does. This will likely be a necessity for HD viewing in the future.
