USB-UIRT Stopped Working

Hello,

I recently upgraded to SageTV 5.0.4.92 from 5.0.2.x and the USB-UIRT no longer changes the channel on my Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000. It does not even blink the light anymore. The USB cable is plugged in any Windows detects it and doesn't say there are any problems with the drivers. I even did a reinstall of the 1.4 drivers from USB-UIRT website and it has not fixed it. I also tried another USB port and still no go. I believe it is totally SageTVs fault this time because when I go into the options for "Setup video sources" and go to "Tuner Control: USB-UIRT Transceiver SAE2000" it is giving extremely weird behavior.

Under "Change Tuning Device" it has none listed.
Under "Test Infrared Code" it has none listed.
Under "Repgram Infared Code" it has none listed.
Under "Remote Control Options" it has "-1" for Digits per channel--"None" for channel change confirm code--" -1 msec" for delay between codes--and "null msec" for delay betewen channel changes.

Now these were all working fine before the upgrade.

I saw someone else having IR blaster problems but they had the Actisys serial one. I've got the USB-UIRT one and it stopped working with the latest build of SageTV. Please, somebody. Any help? How am I supposed to record the world cup if I can't change channels in SageTV?

How did you do the upgrade installation -- did you uninstall the old version and delete anything first, or did you just run the newer installer? The best thing to do is to run the new installer & make sure it gets installed in the same location as the preovious version.

Since it sounds like you are using a customized IR file for the USB-UIRT, see if you installed it in the same directory as last time. If not, then your old USB-UIRT config file is still in the old "<install path>\Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT Transceiver\" directory.

Opus, I upgraded from --> to the above indicated versions using the official SageTV installer that upgraded my thing by itself. SageTV is installed in C:\Program Files\SageTV\ so I don't see what the issue could be with my paths, etc... It's got to be a bug in SageTV.

...and I keep losing recordings because it can't change the channels now.

Yes, there could be a problem in SageTV & you could contact tech support, and perhaps check out the forum FAQ thread for info about turning on debug logging.

But, the reason I suggested that you double check the install path & where the files are located is that older versions used to default to installing in "C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\", not "C:\Program Files\SageTV\". Sometimes the installer doesn't catch where it was previously installed for some reason & you end up running from a new location. This has happened to others.

Also: have you tried removing the source & completely reconfiguring it, including relearning the converter box's IR codes?

That's all I can think of... and, of course, my suggestions may turn out to have nothing to do with your issue.

I am really afraid of losing all of my favorites. That's evil how the favorites do not remain independently of the source, if you should so choose to have it do so. And I discovered something interesting. When I restart my PC it works for a while and then stops working somewhere quite randomly. SageTV is the only one that cannot use the USB-UIRT though. When I fire up GB-PVR it uses the USB-UIRT even when SageTV can't anymore. And as I said I'm using the latest drivers from the USB-UIRT website. I've always had problems with SageTV and the USB-UIRT. I contacted support about SageTV incorrectly changing the channel but they disavowed all responsibility for the DLL file not working claiming that it was provided for them by USB-UIRT folks.

So what I want to know is: A.) How can I get this fixed finally, B.) Why won't SageTV fix their USB-UIRT support and irregularities when they're selling it as one of their big ways to change channels for digital TV and satellite STBs, C.) if SageTV does not fix it, what am I supposed to do. It's been irregular ever since I made my purchase but it worked 98% of the time so it was not that bad, but now with SageTV 5 it is stopping working entirely and setting the weird values I mentioned in 1st post. And finally, D.) Is anyone else getting this?

Favorites have nothing to do with your recording source configuration, so removing a source does not remove any Favorites.

Sage stores the ir codes in a plain text file with a .ir extension. Can you see if you still have one for the STB that you want to control and post its contents here. I'm away from my SageTV box at the moment but I think that it should be in a USBUIRT subdirectory of

C:\program files\sageTv\common files\ (someone please correct me if my memory is faulty)

Cheers

I did that and it didn't fix it. The problem still exists.

Have you tried unistalling the USBUIRT including he drivers and reinstalling the device.

I run sage as a service and the client on the same machine. I quite often get sage locking up or I cannot set commands or use it to change channels.

It always comes down to the USBUIRT. Mostly reinstalling the device works straight away.

Maybe also check which user you have running the service. Longshot, but you never know it might be an account with insufficient privs.

This happened to me too. I didn't update or anything. The usbuirt just stopped working. I went to change the Control under Sources and nothing is listed at all. This just happened out of the blue. The usbuirt is still in the Devise manager but not in sage.

Same Thing Here

I have the same problem. The USB-Uirt just doesn't work anymore, doesn't show up in Sage to even be able to configure it. I have just upgraded to 5.0.4.92.
