New to Sage setting up DVB-t

Hi,

I am new to Sage can anyone take me though the steps necessary to get Sage working with a digital (DVB-T) card.
The card is recognised by scanning fails to find any channels.

Thanks

Looks like the answer is no and a scan from within Sage will not do it;therefore you'll have to build your own, which isn't too difficult, however the format is different in 5. than previous versions.

Looking at this web site http://www.ukfree.tv/notethat.php?d=SZ447865 the Rowridge frequencies are 490MHz, 514MHz, 530MHz, 546MHz,562MHz and 570MHz.

You need to download ScanChannelsBDA from here http://nate.dynalias.net/ScanChannel...annelsBDA.html
use option 1. to enter each of the frequencies eg. 490000 (it's in KHz) and at the next prompt type 8
option 2 will then give you the channels ( it can find) and other information you need to build the .frq file something like:

(I put in 634000 and 8)
Network_1("Sutton Coldfield",634166,8,1)

Program_1("BBC NEWS 24" ,4415, 640 641, 4415) #LCN=80
etc etc

in my .frq file for version 5 this would appear as

#DVBT channel setup table ver 1.0 SageTv 5 format
total_channel:17
ch:1..........
...
...
ch:12 0 0 4415 634166 8 0 1
...
...
ch:17.........

So you will need to use this format (If you are using V5) for the results you get from ScanChannels

Hope this helps and it's worth the pain when you get it going!!

Thanks for the information. Since I posted I have chenged transmitters to the Whitehawk Hill http://www.ukfree.tv/notethat.php?d=TQ330045
I was having issues with the Rowbridge with the signal breaking up. Since changing to Whitehawk it has been perfect.

A channel scan with the software provided with the card (Dvico) finds all the channels fine.

I have tried using ScanChannelsBDA but the scan times out on each frequency.

So far still stuck

Ok - you probably know you need the PIDs to set up the .frq file.

I don't know the Dvico, does that show the PIDs anywhere? if so you are away, if not then a change in driver for the tuner may fix the scan timed out. I use a Nova-t and the latest driver will not work with ScanChannelsBDA, the previous one does.

Unless someone can contribute a .frq for Whitehawk Hill!

Raise a Bug Report!

If you're still struggling and Scanning doesn't work, raise a bug report here. Remember this functionality is still beta and if you report it, Qian will help to get your scanning working and help you build the FRQ file.

What output does the exe give?

In case you don't know, your frequencies should be:
834000
706000
746000
690000
770166
794166

Help!

I have a Hauppauge Nova T PCI and an MVP.

I am trying out a trial version of SageTV (v5) but an unable to detect any signals when running set up in SageTV.

The card & mvp work fine in the Hauppauge MVP software and also GBPVR but not SageTV.

My nearest transmitter is Winter Hill.

Is there an Idiot's guide to setting this up?

I would have tried to help when time permitted, but pretty much all of what you need is already on the forums if you can be bothered to make the effort. Good luck with the other TV packages available...

I don't understand what the grab means. In the PIDs section it shows
0x2BE, which in decimal is 702, but all the pids I have seen are four digits. Try creating a FRQ file with this in it, unless you can find a more realistic PID, i.e.
#DVBT channel setup table ver 2.0, country:
loaded predefined freq table: 0 channel freq
total_channel:50
#ch:index onid tsid program_id freq band 0 ctrl_bits(1:enable; 0:disable)

ch:1 0 0 0702 690000 8 0 1

Then see if Channel 1 works. If it does, you know how to get your PIDs and fill the rest of your file. If it doesn't, you need to work out where the PID is in your DVICO program.

Tried and failed

I have trawled through the forums ... there are lots of pieces of info out there and I have had a go at piecing it together. However I don't have unlimited time (or patience) and my SageTv 15 day trial runs out soon.

I will check back to look for the DVB T drivers ...... where are they likely to be published?

In the mean time i'll revert to GBPVR.

Thanks for your responses.

Instructions are at http://download.sagetv.com/users/qian/
The frequencies you need for Winter Hill are in the DVB-T folder within the GBPVR program files folder on your computer - do a search on file content.

GBPVR is okay for a free tool - I used it myself to start with, but like all the TV software out there it falls down on Favourites handling compared to Sage.

any ideas as to what i am doing wrong?
