Q about Scheduled Recordings in 5.0.4

Hi,

I am still test driving this great PVR software
Now using a real program guide by using XMLTV (grabbing EPG from tvgids.nl) so
I can use the recording scheduling as it is supposed to.

Now, I don't really understand what I am looking at. I scheduled a couple of programs from the guide and they indeed show up 'scheduled to record' with the program name and a red dot
(I suppose the 'record' icon?).
But I also see a lot of other programs that I don't recognise and didnot program.
They don't have the red dot and I don't see a way to remove them. What are they doing there??

Sounds like you've got Intelligent Recording enabled. Now before Opus4 shows up with a manual or FAQ reference

Yellow outline indicates currently recording.
Red outline indicates manual recording.
White outline indicates a favorite recording (Season Pass in Tivo speak).
Black outline indicates "Don't Like"

The rest, without an outline are Intelligent Recordings. Sage will look at your viewing/recording history/choices and will schedule programs which it determines match your viewing habits.

The intelligence of IR can vary, depending on the quality of your guide data, and habits.

There are two ways to get rid of IRs from the schedule, first is to disable IR, second is to go though and mark the ones you don't want "Don't Like". I'd suggest the later, at least until you train IR a bit to see if you like it.

I won't make any claims about IR being brilliant, but I have routine where I go through each day or so and clean up the IR schedule. By doing this it works pretty well, meaning it finds a handfull of shows each day, and will find stuff I'm interested in but didn't know was on.

Ah! I see
So it's the Intelligent Recording that does this? I guess I had something different in mind with IR (I thought it inserted 'chapters' at big scene changes so you can easily skip commercials).
Now that I take a closer look, it choose all kinds of children's programs after I scheduled to record a couple this morning

What I don't understand is why it doesn't say 'scheduled to record' when I point at it. It *will* record it, right?

That's what the comskip customizations are for. Check out Dirmon2, ShowAnalyzer and the neilm's Comskip import.

First thing everything in there is scheduled to record. Off the top of my head though, my guess is it doesn't say "Scheduled to record" because IR doesn't have any sort of padding, that "Scheduled to record" line is probably only shown if you've got padding set and the recording time is different from the airing time.

BTW: everything on that screen should have a "Scheduled to Record" line directly under the title, even IR.
