Newbie with some questions

Hi Friends - love the Sage TV so far but I am a long time MVP user with a couple of questions....

1) I have videos organized into folders on the computer such as Kids movies, dads movies etc. On Sage TV imported videos, how do I maintain the file folder structure so I don't have all the movies mixed in one long list.... too many to scroll through.
2) Is there a way to increase the skip time from 10 seconds to 30 seconds or longer?
3) Is there a way to skip to a percent place in a movie file, for example if I want to go to 50% of the movie file, with the hauppauge MVP I could hit 5 to go to the middle.
4) Is there a way to rearrange menus so that media center for example come right under recorded shows?
5) My import of my master music folder did not find any of the songs in the other folders. Do I need to inport each folder that has songs in it, or can I just import the master folder?

Would appreciate all the help I can get to maximize Sage, it is pretty cool!!!!

Thanks

Where are the videos in relation to the folder(s) you are importing? It should keep the folder structure if you have subfolders. See p. 93 of the v5 manual for an example.

Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize.

Not unless one of the customization imports can do that. There is one for custom skip, but I don't know if it does what you describe.

There is a dynamic menu customization & there is the Studio application where you can edit the whole UI.

What format are the music files? The import process will check all subfolders of the import folder.

This import Custom Skip Forward/Back doesn't do percentages, but does allow you to skip/rewind any amount of time, or go to a specific time within a recording.
Not exactly what you're looking for, but if you have a general idea of the length of the recording it would be easy to jump where you want.

I call it my "Hey, get me to where I fell asleep" import.

Hey Thanks

Hey Thanks - got my videos organized, works great now, realized I had not selected the higher folder....

On the skip time, I went and customized it, but it still seems to stay at 10 seconds even though I set the time at 250 seconds.

On custom skip, I will check out the imports. Thanks....

On the custom menu, this is really interesting to me, can someone explain dynamic menu better, I really want to move media center high in the menu screen that it shows.

My music import is really locking my system up. I only have 20 gigs of music arranged in sub folders and it seems that the SAGE locks up every time I go into the music section. Is SAGE trying to categorize or create DB entries or somethingand then it will get faster, would it take several hours? They are all standard MP3's... any thoughts?

Which FF command did you change? There are two of them & it sounds like you are not using the one you changed. You can go to Detailed Setup -> Commands -> Show Command to see which one you are using.

"Dynamic Customisable Main Menu" is the first customization listed in the STV Import modules section of the customizations list link I posted above. The topic has a link to the wiki with more info.

The best thing to do would be to turn on debug logging to see if the log has info on what is happening. There may be a music file that it isn't handling properly.

Hi Andy - I turned on logging and capture the attached log. Could you please take a peak, It only hangs after I have add my music folder to the directory. It generated a couple of logs, one had 10 MB of data, mostly repeating the following....

Looks like Sage doesn't like that mp3. Once it gets to that file, it locks up shortly thereafter. What I would do is try to do remove that file from your import directory and try it again. Or else, just import of a couple mp3's at a time and see if it works with them. And then, you can try and troubleshoot any flakely mp3's.

Just to show you how a valid mp3 would import, look at this.

And, if you've got an MP3 file that isn't imported correctly, you could send it to SageTV so they can look into handling what is different about it.
