SageTV Newbie Experiencing Some Trouble (PVR-350 TV-out)

Hi All,

Love SageTV, but I am experiencing some difficulty getting it set up. When I initially attempted to use Sage with the PVR 350, I had enabled harware decoding only. For some reason this would give me a blue screen of death everytime I tried to tune to another channel. With hardware decoding only DISABLED, I continually received a "could not render the video portion" error. Finally, I changed the video encoder from the Hauppauge one (selected by default) to Intervideo non-CSS. This solved the decoding issue, as I can now see a picture through VGA mode, however the tv out on the 350 is horribly pixelated. My setup is as follows:

mobo: MSI PM8M-V Socket 478 VIA P4M800 Micro ATX
cpu: Intel Celeron D 310 Prescott 533MHz FSB 256KB L2 Cache Socket 478

I am running windows xp home &&
SageTV Media Center Version 5.0

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you sending the video out to a TV? I have a similar setup as you with no issue. What I have noticed is a great imporvement using the SVideo out verses the composit video.

Yup. sure am

I am using the PVR350's svideo out. It keeps getting garbled. I know the cable is good, when I had software decoding disabled, the video out was fine, of course the system kept crashing....
