difference between the free extender and this one?
I wanted to know if I run SageTV 5.X , what would be the reason why I would need to purchase the Media Extender License? I thought there was a free extender that someone made for early versions of Sage? Not sure, so I was hoping someone would direct me? Perhaps it is because we can no longer run the free version with 5.x?

The older plugin will probably still work, but the built-in MVP support has some advantages, among which are less cpu use on the server, faster UI response, and the ability to transcode various video formats, among other things.
