Widescreen Problems

Hi, I installed sagetv. Everything is working fine except that the right side of the screen gets cut off on my Toshiba Widescreen TV. I'm not just talking about the videos but the sagetv menus also get cut off. I'm missing about 20% of the image to the right of the screen.

I'm using Windows MCE but it does the same thing in XP pro. I have a Chaintech Geforce 6600GT with the component video out connected to the TV. I'm using extended desktop with the TV as the secondary monitor (I don't have a choice the TV is in another room). All other programs work fine in full screen mode but not sagetv. I've looked at every post concerning widescreen and can't find anyone with a similar problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks, to me, as if you need to adjust your overscan settings, although 20% seems a bit excessive. The settings are in Setup->Detailed Setup->Multimedia->Overscan Settings

What resolution are you running and what kind of TV is it?

Toshiba 50H82 50'' rear projection HDTV.

TV Format in the nvidia settings is 720P HDTV

The resolution is 1152x648 because of the adjustments made in the HDTV overscan Compensation settings.

The problem still happens when I select ''Native'' in the overscan compensation settings.

I've also tried changing the mode & timing values to 861B (1280 x 720 @ 50) -P as I read in another post but with the same results (part of the image missing to the right of the screen).

I actually have a similar problem, while my videos show OK the menu us cut off on my projector at about 70% to the right of the screen. This is ok since menu stuff is on the left but man is it annoying. Like I said, the videos, movies, dvd's and files play fine full 16x9, just not the menu. Help?

The Sage menues are cut off? That's not right, sounds like you've got some weird timing/resolution thing going on. Make sure you've got your desktop resolution set to the native resolution of your PJ? Oh, and how do you have your PC connected to the PJ?

I have a 50H82

I'll have to look at what the resolution is, but it's not a standard one. My 6200 auto adjusted to fill the screen, so I don't remember the exact values off hand.

I'll try and remember to look tonight when I get home.

My projector is old school crt (red blue and green tubes) and will accept any resolution it's sent as it has no pixels. The connection is vga to five pin bnc cable (highest tech connectcion it's got). resolution is set at 1280x720 and works awesomely for video playback (110 inch diagonal for dvd playback aint bad). Just the menu problem. I do get fragments of the menu continuing over to the right, but blacked out, as if I can see the footprint of the menu items over video (like when fast forwarding the bar at the bottom over my video) but it crops to solid black (like a color key) at the right. Perhaps in the ini file there a pixel definition problem. dunno...

Don't suppose you could get a picture of it, I'm not sure I understand what you're seeing.

Here are the best I can do before work... low light as it's a projector, can't flash out the image...

screencutoff.JPG
This one shows where the menu is cut off at right

overvideocuttoff.JPG
This one shows that video plays full widescreen but as you can see the ffwd slider is cut off and black over the video on the right.

Hope this helps

Are you by chance running extended desktop and a smaller resolution on the non-Sage screen?

Actually I'd say it's a bug, and you might want to file an official support request.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I'm just trying a trial version of sage and the menu's are being cut off at about 60% width and 80% height. I have SageTV running on my secondary monitor at 1280x720, my main monitor is 800x600. Any updates on this problem?

Same issue here.... 1024x768 and 1920x1080i.... I think it's a dual-screen/wide-screen bug in Sage.... I gave up and went to MCE because of it...

Widescreen cut-off problems, secondary extended display

I have the same problem. It only occurs when the Secondary monitor is the Widescreen (the Primary is 4x3 1024x768, secondary is 16:9 1280x1024).

Has there been a resolution?

...Terry.

...and three years later this issue still persists. I guess I'll enter an official support request.
