can't get new wired mvp to work
Hey guys,
The net connection to it is fine and it's got an IP. I'm running sage 4.1.8.78 so I should be ok. Under Detailed > Advanced I have the SageTV Server option enabled. But the MVP can't find it. What am I missing? thx |

nope that didn't do it. It says "your license has expired" and below that it says "you have one valid license"....wtf...

That message should actually say that the trial expired, not the license.
I think you need to install the latest version of SageTV to use the newest wired or wireless versions of the MVP. - Andy

you are correct - trial period. I was afriad I may have to upgrade. is the 5309 still in the system info screen? I just don't want to lose mu custom stv settings or rock solid stability that I currently have. Is there a recommended method for upgrading?
one other question. I remember when I was running a client that if I changed settings, say overscan, on the client, it would change it down on the server. Is this the same behaviour that Media Extender will exhibit? I'm wondering how customizable MVp will be - that is, could I run a different stv on it than the server etc... thanks Last edited by davey_fl; 07-21-2006 at 04:06 PM. |

The 5309 code is still valid.
If you've edited your STV, you won't have those changes in the new default STV. You could continue to use your edited STV, but then you won't have the latest chages frmo the newest default STV. My preferred upgrade process is covered here: How to install a new version of SageTV. - Andy

the strangest thing happened. I wanted to take a look at V5 before I put it on my main htpc so I installed the 14day trial. Looking through detiled setup I could see that when you enable SageTV Server you get an additional choice to enable the MVP server. Fair enough, I did that and my MVP immediately connected....to my main htpc running the old sage. After having a look at V5 I uninstalled it from the machine. Now my MVP connects every time to my main hptc (V4) and works great.
Thanks for the help, I'll get around to upgrading one day... |
